Today I read a blog titled "What Six Looks Like" on Huffington Post. I was touched by this blogger as I have been by others. Just like others it seems that I have been crying on and off for the last few days. Trying not to look upset in front of my children. the news hasn't been on much here, so I have lost track of some of the details, although I do catch some here or there.
But I have to agree with this blog. I do know what six looks like. Six to me is whining about homework. It is being to big to lift anymore. It is playing soccer and baseball and wanting to win and get better. Six is learning to read, and write in complete sentences with proper punctuation. Six is having a teacher you adore. Six is loving to be cuddled, but yet also wanting to walk up to the door to school by himself. Six is having the freedom to ride his bike around the neighborhood, but still not being able to go as far as his older brother. Six is playing in the sandbox, or the pool. Six is that goofy smile in pictures, because he can't figure out how to just smile. Six is a wonderful age to be, and like the blogger, I can not imagine not having my six anymore. It is so full of fun, and hope for the future. I don't know how I could go on without my six.

oh Amazon
I love Amazon. I love the Christmas deals. I have so spent to much money, I should be done. But Amazon has these great deals like the two weeks before Christmas. Scott would tell me to stop, But I really don't want to. I am rationalizing this by saying that I can hold some things back for Birthdays and such... they are just such good deals..
(in truth I am not doing terrible, I am barely over budget..)
What I should really do is the something to wear, something to read, something you need, and something to play with.

HAND PRINT TREE SKIRT
Today we did our hand prints on our tree skirt, this is the 4th year we have done this. I wish I had started earlier. I can't believe how they have grown especially Nolan.
This Craft is pretty inexpensive. The red tree skirt, is just that a plain tree skirt. I don't remember how much it cost, but it wasn't much. I use craft Paint for the hand prints and tulip paint to write their names and date. I left the edges of my tree skirt plain, but you can embellish it if you wish.
I loved the idea of the craft when I first read about it. Now I like it even more as I see how it is turning out.

Johnny's back
This evening Johnny came back. Johnny is our elf. This is the third year Johnny has been comming here. It is hard to believe that johnny started comming when Bry was 5.
Earlier I made a Santa picture construction paper for the boys to fill in the beard with cotton balls. Johnny briugt the glue and the cotton balls, wrote a sweet poem/note on Santa's beard and brought the Elf on the Shelf book.
He boys are happy to see Johnny again.

Weigh in
These hollidays are killing my diet. I had reached 160 before Halloween and then gained and lost with Halloween, and again with Thanksgiving. So now I am back down to 160.
I have a new goal of 155. I wonder sometimes if I will ever reach it. But all I can do is keep moving forward and try to make better choices.
