Today I read a blog titled
"What Six Looks Like" on Huffington Post. I was touched by this blogger as I have been by others. Just like others it seems that I have been crying on and off for the last few days. Trying not to look upset in front of my children. the news hasn't been on much here, so I have lost track of some of the details, although I do catch some here or there.
But I have to agree with this blog. I do know what six looks like. Six to me is whining about homework. It is being to big to lift anymore. It is playing soccer and baseball and wanting to win and get better. Six is learning to read, and write in complete sentences with proper punctuation. Six is having a teacher you adore. Six is loving to be cuddled, but yet also wanting to walk up to the door to school by himself. Six is having the freedom to ride his bike around the neighborhood, but still not being able to go as far as his older brother. Six is playing in the sandbox, or the pool. Six is that goofy smile in pictures, because he can't figure out how to just smile. Six is a wonderful age to be, and like the blogger, I can not imagine not having my six anymore. It is so full of fun, and hope for the future. I don't know how I could go on without my six.
